The ideal candidate will be an accomplished academic physician in the areas of clinical care, resident/ fellow education, and research. The candidate will be expected to encourage and support the scholarly activity of fellows and faculty within the division and to maintain the current exceptional level of clinical care, and collegial interactions with neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, and clinical neurophysiologists. This leadership position is supported by extensive departmental educational support including a state-of-the- art simulation center, administrative support, and research funding for pilot projects from within the department as well as within the institution. Significant startup funds are available to support the growth of a successful research program.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to recruit new members to the neuroanesthesiology faculty and fellowship and foster a scholarly environment. The department commitment to scholarly activity is reflected in extensive programs in clinical and basic research, a neuroanesthesiology fellowship, and protect ed research time for qualified individuals.  The division provides anesthesia care for patients being treated for vascular surgical procedures (cerebral and extra-cranial abnormalities), acute stroke interventions, complex spine surgeries, asleep and awake craniotomies, diagnostic and therapeutic neuroradiology procedures, and electro-convulsive therapy.
