Job Details

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for three full-time positions in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Appointees to the Clinical X series are required to engage in creative activity that can include clinical/translational research, teaching, patient care and university service with the expectation of demonstrable research productivity. Appointees to the Health Sciences Clinical series are required to participate in patient care, teaching and university service. 

The Division currently includes 16 faculty, and 2 NPs. Referrals come from a primary care network, colorectal and hepatobiliary services, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, and local region. The Division provides inpatient consultative services, staffs clinics and outpatient endoscopy units at 4 locations throughout the Sacramento region, including a new clinic with 4 outpatient endoscopy suites. Research opportunities include a CTSA-funded Clinical and Translational Sciences Center, which provides bioinformatics and bio statistical support including access to over 12 million patient records in UC-Rex; a GI Clinical Trials Unit to support investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials; and multiple opportunities for translational research. The Division’s training program includes 9 Gastroenterology fellows and 1 EUS fellow. 

Responsibilities will include providing general gastroenterology care and teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Must possess an M.D. and be BC/BE in Gastroenterology and eligible for a California medical license. Candidates must work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Advanced Endoscopist

This position is primarily dedicated to providing outstanding patient care and clinical/translational research in the area of advanced endoscopy.

Candidate is expected to have training and experience in advanced endoscopy including endoscopic mucosal resection, EUS, and ERCP. Completion of an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship is highly desirable.

IBD

This position is primarily dedicated to providing outstanding patient care and clinical/translational research in the area of inflammatory bowel disease.

Candidate is expected to have training and experience in general gastroenterology as well as in the treatment of IBD and performance of clinical research. Completion of an IBD Fellowship is highly preferred. Competency in endoscopic ultrasound is preferred.

Gastroenterology and Hepatology

This position is primarily dedicated to providing outstanding general gastroenterology care. Candidate is expected to provide Gastroenterology consultation and endoscopy services at the UC Davis Medical Center and at satellite primary care network sites located in the greater Sacramento region.

Candidates must have expertise in general gastroenterology and diagnostic/therapeutic endoscopy. Demonstrated experience in clinical research is desirable.
