The Department of Neurology at the UMSOM/UMMC is recruiting for a senior vascular neurologist at the Associate Professor/Professor level for its expanding Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center. There is an active regional Brain Attack Program, including an evolving Tele-Stroke presence; NIH and VA funded research programs in acute stroke, vascular biology, stroke genetics, and stroke rehabilitation; and an ACGME-approved vascular neurology fellowship program. Applicants must be ABPN board certified in neurology and certified or board eligible in vascular neurology, and have demonstrated potential for either clinical or basic science stroke research. Specific research areas of interest include genomic investigation of stroke risk alleles and the use of other broad “omics” platforms to define risk variables and actionable targets for stroke therapies. The position is partially funded by an Endowed Professorship. Clinical responsibilities include acute stroke call and in- and out-patient activities that are commensurate with the degree of research commitment.
